The toxic chemicals in electronic waste can leach into the land or are released into the atmosphere, impacting people and the environment. In some European countries, regulations have been introduced to prevent ewaste being dumped in landfills due to its hazardous content, but generally across the world legislation is either weak or non-existant, particularly in developing countries.

    I really have not heard anythign about this here in Australia – the ewaste situation on the ground is pretty much the same as it was 10 years ago, it all goes into landfill…
